Pandavas lived for a while at Ekachakra, disguised as Brahmins. Everyday they used to go out begging for alms, through the streets that smelled of donkey dung, where raucous children from the agrahara (Brahmin ghetto) , played the vernacular village sports.
After coming home, they split their alms into two portions.
One portion was given to Bhima, who had always a voracious appetite. The rest of the brothers and mother ate the other portion.
